28.0 Remastered

Iteration 39.0, also known as Filicraft 2, Red dead craft, and officially i28 Remastered, was an Iteration hosted by Fili during July 2024. It was meant to be a 'remake' of his first iteration and borrows a similar theme and time period. The map was a custom made crop of North America set during the U.S. civil war and saw disparate population centers across the map, spanning from Colombia to Oregon. Despite periods of inconsistent development, a very rocky launch, and a stark decrease in overall server population compared to other servers in the wider community, 28 Remaster went on to last a satisfying two weeks and break 100 players during war and producing many fun memories and beautiful towns.

Development

i28 remaster entered development shortly after the death of 38.0 which left Fili feeling nostalgic for the old days of /int/craft and his tenure jannying iterations within it. Inspired by games such as Red Dead Redemption 2, his own servers, and some new ideas from the community, Fili initially planned for the server to be much grander than a traditional int iteration. Pre-built trade hubs, shops, a bounty system for notorious pvpers and pariahs, even a system of in-game questlines for players to follow which would reward special items were some of Fili's many ideas for the server. While Fili made signifigant progress on adding most of these ideas into the real server, other development concerns and issues caused many of them to be scrapped at the time of release. Some shops and player bounties were added, but due to the gigantic scale of the map even these rather broad features were underused.

Many players in the community lacked confidence that the server would ever release. Fili's work on the server was inconsistent to say the least. His progress could be summarized by spurts of rapid progress and months of almost nothing to report. After over a year since the previous iteration, Fili announced the server to release on the 28th of June, almost exactly 5 years since the launch of the first Filicraft. Due to last minute issues with several plugins (and a desire to bing League of Legends) Fili opted to delay the server's launch for two more weeks. The server finally launched on Friday, july 12th for town leaders, and the following day for everyone else. Due to even more last minute plugin and server issues, the leader launch was rocky and suffered many crashes and rollbacks. Fili delayed the launch yet again until Sunday the 14th for the wider population and updated the server version from 1.16.5 to 1.18.2.

Demographic concerns

The rapid rise of Crusalis over the last two years has raised concern many within /int/craft circles about the demographics in the community. Many /int/craft veterans view Crusalis players as hordes of uncivilized PvP sweats who will poison any server they play due to their sheer numbers and lack of cultural sophistication. Fili held similar beliefs, viewing Crusalis and its players as a potential threat to the health of his server. In an attempt to curb their influence, Fili posted a list of Jim Crow-esque laws outlining de jure oppression of “Criggers”. Fili also boldly decided launch the server head-to-head with Crusalis, in order to weed out the most dedicated 'Criggers'. This pleased many native /int/craft groups at the expense of essentially capping the maximum playerbase. Once the server had finally released and each nation had settled in, it was certain that most Criggers had chosen to focus on Crusalis over intcraft, and the groups that did opt for /int/man did so as small, scattered groups all across the map. Crisis averted?

First week

After many hours of tireless work Fili had repaired the server's major issues and players began building the foundations of their towns. The launch playercount peak was around 40 players. The nations of Cuba, Gran Colombia, California (Norton's Empire), and The Union, a very loose federation of newfags were the early powers and rapidly expanded in size. Fili finalized the guns early into the first week and the playercount actually surpassed the launch date, breaking 50 online players, a rare occurance for any /int/ server.
