Onions, also known as Doneions and formerly as epicfaillord, was the host of iterations i26, i30, i31, i32, and i37. He is one of the most controversial, yet influential, figures in /int/craft history. While he has often been criticized for admin bias and other perceived faults, he was, however, responsible for at least three fairly successful servers, which set /int/craft on its modern path.

Early life

It is unclear when or how Onions, then playing as epicfaillord, first joined /int/craft, but he was around from at least Cold War.

Iteration history

i25

Town: Karakalpakiya, Bukharan Caliphate

Participated in the Battle of Danzig on Stryker's Austria-Hungary's side, but ragequit after getting shot by Austrian troops.

i26

Onions (as epicfaillord) was the host of i26, which became known as Epicfailcraft. Although it had a reasonably high level of activity, the server suffered from numerous issues, especially crashes. Onions/Epic blamed the crashes on the server hardware provider. The iteration was ignominiously shut down just before the first war weekend, angering many players.1)

i28

“Onions” first appeared on i28. Prior to launch, he helped Fili with development and made the server map, learning WorldPainter in the process. He was planning to lead a group in Laramie, Wyoming as the “Wyoming Free State”, but the group was joined with the USA faction by request of the admin. Onions then became a leading figure in the USA group, the largest nation in the pre-launch, even creating and owning their Discord. However, before launch, he disappeared (to go to basic training) and so the USA fragmented again and had to make a new Discord. On i28, he met Jonathan and PandaTanner and told them about his plans to host another iteration in 2 months, after Filicraft was over.

i30

Town: USS Enterprise, NATO

Onions hosted the Yugo Wars iteration, also called Onionscraft 1, in November 2019. Beginning in August, he had organized a new /int/craft Discord and new advisory team to help him run his planned server. On the server, he led the small NATO faction. Onions took part in the River Conference on behalf of NATO.2) NATO also took part in the Battle of Skopje on the Monkeydonian side, and liberated Monkeydonia in the Second Battle of Skopje.3)

i31

Town: Ar-Rutbah, ISIS

Onions hosted for the third time (second as Onions) in Middle East. Onions led the nation of ISIS, which had huge pre-claim numbers but didn't translate to many in-game. ISIS was destroyed in war against Syria. During the Six-Hour War, Onions controversially deleted the town of Lebanon. Faced with more and more criticism, Onions gained the nickname “Doneions”, coined by Stryker.4)

i32

Town: Rome, Italy

Onions hosted for the fourth time (third as Onions) in i32. Between the iterations, Onions helped Xeth with the development of the Nodes plugin, but his contributions were small. In-game, he led the nation of the Papal States, which was possibly his most successful. They built a nice-looking town in Rome, united with Savoy, and, together with Savoy, conquered the rest of the Italian states to unify the peninsula.5) However, Rome fell in the second war day to a coalition of nations who attacked explicitly to defeat Onions. The battle lasted 2 hours despite Rome's garrison being hugely outnumbered.

After the iteration, with anti-Onions sentiment continuing high, and feeling burned out himself, Onions decided to quit from hosting, at least for a time. The /int/craft Discord used during the Onions servers was spectacularly deleted.6)

i34

Town: London, British Commonwealth

Onions was supposed to be pre-banned on i34, but played secretly on an alt. He was with the British group with Jonathan and became an officer in the town of London. Onions helped make the chest room and gear equipper, and was a crucial soldier in the Brits' war against the Byzantines.

i35

Town: Nagasaki, Japan

Onions played with Kipse in Japan on Razzcraft. He had fun on the server while it lasted. In the aftermath, he participated in posting TheSpookyBone's dox, gaining some controversy.

Cold War 2

In late 2021, Onions attempted to host a fifth server, planned to be /int/craft's second iteration with a Cold War theme (after the hugely successful i24). Onions planned to reuse assets from Middle East (i31) to accomplish this project. “Cold War 2”, as it became known, was aggressively boycotted by community members such as Stryker and TheSpookyBone, who refused to play again with Onions as host, due to his previous record. Some development was done, but the server was cancelled before launch due to the boycott and Onions' personal lack of interest.7)

i37

In his last attempt at hosting, Onions launched i37 Ukrainecraft. This server also had a mass boycott, which was even more intense than before as the server came closer to being real. The boycotters even went as far as to dox Onions. The server was a failure, as Onions declared it dead just hours after launch due to low playercount.8)

i38

Town: London, British Empire

Onions played with the Norse in Britain and fought in their wars in Spain, France, England, and Canada.

Controversy

While it is common for seethe and cope to be directed at server hosts, Onions has faced an unprecedented amount of controversy:

Feud with Stryker

Onions has had a high-profile feud with Stryker since at least Yugo Wars. Stryker's dislike of Onions developed over his adminship. Onions claims to have disliked Stryker since his faction was secretly using mining bots on Yugo Wars. The two have antagonized each other since. Stryker and Onions were in direct conflict in-game on i31 and i32, and Stryker was a major part of the boycotts against Cold War 2 and Ukrainecraft.

Feud with Reno

Onions also had a feud with Nurse_Reno. This possibly developed during 2018, as Reno's servers met with more success than Onions' own i26.
